TRMTC Member Application Process 

1. To be eligible for membership, a tribe must be federally recognized.

2. To apply, an interested authorized tribal government official must submit a written request to the TRMTC Executive Committee in care of the staff. Email requests to become a TRMTC member to allie.leber@northwindgrp.com.

3. Each request must express the tribe's interest in joining TRMTC, describe the geographic location of the tribal lands, and outline perceived impacts associated with DOE radioactive materials shipments on or near tribal lands, communities, and/or culturally sensitive resources.

4. TRMTC staff support will acknowledge receipt of the letter of interest from the applicant tribe and notify the Executive Committee of the request within 72 hours of receipt of the request.

5. The Executive Committee shall evaluate the written requests to join the TRMTC and approve or deny requests for membership by a simple majority vote. If approved, the Committee forwards their justification to the TRMTC membership for a final determination by a simple majority of the general membership.  

6. Upon final determination, staff shall provide a written notification of the acceptance or denial to the interested tribe within 30 days of the application. The notification shall be signed by the Executive Committee Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson.
